"How much computer do I need to learn programming?" is a question that is often asked. I've said it before, but since more and more people are asking, I have to say it again.
In summary, it can be said that "it is possible to use a device that uses the Internet regularly at home."
In fact, if you run a browser with a code editor, you can do programming. It doesn't need to be the best machine because it won't do 3D rendering or video encoding. In cases like AI Model Training, we need good performance, but this has become a special requirement. As an observer, there is no need to focus on this yet.
If not too slow, If it's not heavy, it's enough. If your computer is slow, If it's heavy, it's not from programming. No job is bad.
Not only for progamming, If you still want to play games well, If you can afford it, use a gaming computer once. Just for programming, it doesn't need to be as big as a gaming computer. Some people want to be told that "it is necessary to have a good machine". So it's good to have a gaming computer at home as "the teacher said".
The basic requirements for programming work such as Browser, Code Editor and Build Tool are not very high. The actual system requirements that will be needed are VMs, Only when you have to use emulators and IDEs that eat resources. These are cases where I/O and RAM requirements are higher than processing power requirements.
So be prepared -
- CPU: Intel Core i5 (or) Ryzan 5
- Memory: 16 GB RAM
- Storage: SSD (any capacity)
That's enough.
If you want to reduce the weight of the processor a bit more, you can probably get the i3 from the later generation. The next Generation i3 is often faster than the previous Generation i5.
A dedicated graphic card / GPU is fine. It is not necessary. Other issues like Screen Quality and Build Quality are not mandatory requirements. If the quality is good, the price will be good. long lasting If the quality is not good, the price will be a little cheaper. In the long run, it is not the nature of the devices that you will have to endure. I'm saying that if you can, you should use a good one, but it's not a mandatory requirement.
What I don't want to reduce is RAM and SSD. Most of the devices sold here only come with 8 GB of RAM, so you may need to add more yourself. And if you are using HDD without SSD, you may need to use SSD. Whether or not it's an SSD makes a big difference in the durability and performance of the device.
This should be the minimum requirement. If you can, use what you can and better.
Are Macs bad? good for you. I just want to be able to. If you can get a Mac because you can afford it, don't think about the previous Intel Macs. Just think of the later M1 and M1 Pro. As for M2, it's just starting now, so if you want to go with M2, it's better to wait a bit.
Can you do programming on the phone? so sorry Can't get it. If you can get it, it will only be superficial. If you really want to go to a really deep professional level, coding on your phone isn't great right now.
If you really want to get into programming, a computer and the Internet are a must.
If you only have this little computer and the Internet, there are hundreds of thousands of things to learn, schools, I can no longer attend courses. Although it is good if you can. I can't attend, but now I can study valuable sciences at my fingertips without having to spend money.
It is no longer a hot era when there is little to study. If you try to follow it, you will get hot.
